The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, in cooperation with RADIUS Indiana, hosted the first public forums for the NSA Crane and the Lake Glendora Test Facility Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 7 pm at the 4-H Fairgrounds located at 1301 E. County Road 75N, Sullivan, IN 47882; Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 5 pm at the Stellar Plaza located at 906 16th Street, Bedford, IN 47421; and Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 6 pm at the WestGate Academy, 13598 East Westgate Drive, Odon, IN 47562.
During this Forum, the project team was introduced; an overview of the JLUS planning process and 25 compatibility factors were provided; opportunities for public involvement discussed; and an overview presentation of NSA Crane given by the NSA Crane Commander, and Crane Army Ammunition Activity and Naval Surface Warfare Center staff. The public participated in a survey with results presented to the audience in real-time to gauge understanding of NSA Crane and provide insight into potential compatibility issues. Each survey was tailored to the region where the meeting took place. These forums begin an essential dialogue with the community on the JLUS and compatibility issues that will carry through the project into 2016.
